Hello,

My name is Matt Williams and I'll be your faciliator for our upcoming Tesco IMS Capability Learning Team workshop on Wednesday 3rd December 2025.

What the L&D Academy is all about

The TwentyOne Leadership L&D Academy is our signature development pathway for learning and development professionals.

It brings together the tools, models and coaching approaches that we’ve developed through decades of working with L&D teams across leading organisations, from housing and healthcare to retail, finance and entertainment.

At its heart, the L&D Academy helps you answer three powerful questions:

  1. How can I move from delivering learning to supporting business performance?Shifting your focus from courses and content to outcomes, behaviours and measurable impact.

  1. What does it take to be seen, and trusted, as a true Capability Consultant?Building the mindset, confidence and credibility to influence decisions and support strategy.

  1. How do I design learning that changes what people do, not just what they know?Using brain-friendly, performance-focused design to create learning that sticks, and shows measurable results.

What to expect from the Capability Learning Team Workshop

Learning Objective:

Equipping you and your team with the mindset, skills, and strategies of high-performing Capability Consultants who influence, deliver brain-friendly learning, and grow the learning culture across Tesco IMS.

By the end of the day, you’ll be able to:

  • Reframe training “requests” into value-based consulting engagements using a simple discovery/scoping framework.

  • Map key stakeholders and define what good looks like (KPIs, evidence of impact) for upcoming work.

  • Apply the five Brain Friendly Learning principles to redesign at least one live TESCO IMS module for stronger learning transfer and impact.

Your workshop Preparation

Please complete these short tasks to get the most from the day:

1. Bring a live example

Think of one recent or upcoming “training request” or L&D project you’ve been involved in. Be ready to share:

  • What the original request was (“We need a course on…”)

  • What the underlying issue or goal might be

  • Who the key stakeholders are

This will become your working case during the redesign session.

2. Reflect on your own role

Ask yourself:

  • Where am I strongest as a Capability Consultant?

  • Where do I most need to grow (our team development, influence, scoping, creativity, evidence, relationships, etc.)?

Next Steps After the Workshop - Putting It into Practice

The day is just the start. You’ll have ongoing support to embed what you learn and see the real impact. This includes the following activity (dates to be agreed).

Peer Live Observation

  • You’ll observe each other delivering your newly designed sessions

  • Real-Time Peer Coaching & Feedback to reinforce BFL principles and promote reflection

  • Collaborative Action Planning session after each observation to embed improvements and identify future focus areas

Group Online Review Session (120-min):

  • Refresher on core modules and BFL principles

  • Review of observation sessions. Success sharing, troubleshooting, and peer learning

  • Build shared commitments to sustain the learning culture

Individual Online Coaching (90-min):

  • Tailored development for each Capability Consultant

  • Focus on consulting confidence, career growth, and influence

Where and When

The workshop will be held in your office at Q8 Quorum Business Park.

  • Date – Wednesday 3rd December 2025

  • Timing – 8:00am start and 4:00pm finish

I will be travelling up the night before and setting the room up in preparation for the morning.

If you do have any challenges with the earlier start time or if you have any questions regarding the workshop, please do get in touch.

One last thought

This is your opportunity to shape what it means to be a Capability Consultant at Tesco IMS, to create the space and confidence to do your best work individually and as a team, influence senior stakeholders, and design learning that really sticks.

I can’t wait to start working with you all and see what you create.

See you soon,

Matt
