Thank you for your support for the upcoming Business Unit Leadership Programme.

As a participant's line manager, you have a significant impact on the programme's success.

Please watch this short video, which highlights how you can support your people and maximise the impact the programme has.

I am really looking forward to working with you during this programme.

I have worked closely with the senior leadership community in the UK to design a programme that has real impact for leaders like you in your role and region.

This page is designed to give you a flavour of what to expect from the experience and to help you get the most out of it.

What to expect from the experience

How to prepare to get the most from the programme

Having spent time with leaders at all levels around the world in GWS over the past three years, I really do appreciate how busy you are. The investment you're making in time, energy and money makes it vital to me that this programme is a highly valuable use of your time and one that raises the bar for you personally, in your career and in the results you deliver for your clients and your business.

Three things you can do now

  1. Protect your diary. The sessions will be immersive, so it is really important that you do everything you can to fully focus on your learning during the workshops.

  2. Allocate some focused time in the two to three weeks after each face-to-face workshop to review your learning and ensure you apply your key insights from the programme. Finding an accountability partner will really help with this.

  3. Have a conversation with your line manager before the programme. Agree your outcomes from the programme, the key challenges it will help you tackle, and how, specifically, you will measure the impact your experience should have on your business.

Business Impact

While I want you to have a brilliant experience, I also want to ensure we can clearly show the impact that this programme has on the business. With that in mind, please bring your answers to the following questions to the first workshop. Be as specific as possible.

  • If the experience helps you to be an even better leader, how will you know?

  • What specific challenges and opportunities exist in your Business Unit that will be positively impacted upon as a result of you applying your learning?

  • What business indicators should be used to measure the impact of this programme on your BU? This could be anything, from project pull-through to quality, or from staff turnover to win rate. Which would be most impacted upon as a result of you being an even better leader?

Throughout the programme, you'll reflect on your answers to these questions and report on your progress and impact.

What to wear and what to bring:

One final note. I want this experience to be outstandingly valuable, regardless of whether it is your first leadership development programme or the latest of many. If there is anything that I can do ahead of the session to ensure that is the case, please get in touch via richard@twentyoneleadership.com.
