Inspiring Leaders at De Vere Final Follow Up
Well, what a final couple of days. Great presentations, brilliant feedback, and moments to stop and reflect on the journey you've been on over the past few months.
Here's a short video with some final thoughts from me.
On the last day, I asked you to identify some areas that you commit to building habits around. I've captured these below. (If you don't see yours here, email them to richard@twentyoneleadership.com and I'll add them to the page).
Kate:
Mindful of state – specifically around the language and physiology – being more self-aware of how this impacts others, but also how I am then perceived by peers and my credibility
Coaching – approaching situations from a coaching angle (when appropriate) rather than telling/doing. Give others more of an opportunity to learn
Being selfish and putting myself first, allowing myself to prioritise my workload (umbrella theory) to enable me to better perform and get more from myself and my team. In addition, prioritise my own wellbeing
Chris:
Behavioural change
Leading through state (self-awareness)
Self-leadership and wellbeing
Neil:
Ensuring there is a clear hotel strategy which is shared and understood by all
Demonstrating the fundamentals of leadership daily
Own my internal thinking by giving ongoing feedback
John:
Knowing and remembering the difference between a manager and a leader
The difference between being credible and approachable and moving between them appropriately
Making use of the models – particularly maps of the world.
Self-care
Debbie:
Using a credible communication style when more gravitas is required (ie quite often!)
Protecting my time so I can deliver key projects and deliver on my KPIs
Use coaching to develop the group Marketing execs
Joseph:
Use the Umbrella Model to stop dropping down into my previous role.
Use the leadership equaliser to manage my time better.
Use the solutions focus on the next project that I start and ensure the end goal is the correct one
Katie:
To keep the Leadership Equaliser in mind, ensuring I am spending proportionate amounts of time leading people vs. managing & doing things
To use a strategic framework when completing projects, and in particular the next phase of agreeing and integrating a new ATS system to De Vere
To be considered and tactical in the way I phrase and position my communications to influence more of the people I want more of the time
Rachel:
Breaking situations down into bite-sized, achievable chunks more & using solutions focus during day-to-day challenges
Utilise coaching with my immediate team to help develop them individually
Manage my state in positive ways and use useful language in all aspects of the day
It was a pleasure to work with you. Keep in touch.
